八光流柔術の歴史その壱
開祖 奥山龍峰（吉治）宗家は1901年（明治34年）に山形県に生まれ、後に北海道旭川に移住しました｡1924年（大正13年）に東京政治学校に入学し、1927年（昭和2年）に帰郷して大東流合気柔術の松田敏美師範と交流の後、大東流合気柔術中興の祖として名高い武田惣角公と前田武とも交流を重ね、
その後､上京するまでに天塩、新潟、京都、宮津、伊勢、熊本、沖縄に至るまで、各地を遊歴して様々な武術家、武道家と交わり武芸十八般を研究しました｡
さらに平田了山、南拝山より東洋医学や皇法医学と心理療法を学び皇法指圧を含め皇方医学と古来から伝わる柔術の両輪を合わせ独創を重ね八光流柔術を完成。昭和16年6月1日、東京芝元神明宮に於て、八光流開祖報告祭を巖修、八光流初代宗家を全国に宣言しました。
The founder, Soke Okuyama Ryuho (Yoshiji), was born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1901 and later moved to Asahikawa, Hokkaido. Later, before moving to Tokyo, he traveled to various places including Teshio, Niigata, Kyoto, Miyazu, Ise, Kumamoto, and Okinawa, where he met and studied various martial artists and martial arts. He also learned oriental medicine, koho medicine, and psychotherapy from Hirata Ryozan and Minami Haiyan. He perfected Hakkoryu Jujutsu by combining both Oriental medicine and traditional Jujutsu. On June 1, 1941, he held the Hakkoryu Founder's Report Festival at Shiba Moto Shinmei Shrine in Tokyo and proclaimed himself the first headmaster of Hakkoryu.
八光流柔術の歴史その弐
その後、開祖 奥山龍峰（吉治）宗家は終戦後から復興期を経て、1987年（昭和62年）に逝去されるまで多くの 門弟を指導しました｡
北海道から沖縄に至るまで、さまざまな形で八光流の指導を受けた者は数多く、フランス、ベルギー、ギリシャ、ポルトガル、ハワイ、アメリカ本土をはじめ世界中に拡がっており、ことにＦＢＩにおいては逮捕術としても活用頂いた経緯も含め横田米軍基地内でも教傳実績があります。
現在は、龍峰を襲名された奥山龍峰（俊夫）宗家が埼玉県さいたま市の大宮にて八光流柔術総本部八光塾で皇方医学の指導を含め技の教傳及び師範の育成にも当たられております、また全国では三千余名の師範が各地で教伝指導を行っています。
After that, the founder, Ryuho (Yoshiji) Okuyama, instructed many pupils from the end of the war through the period of reconstruction until his death in 1987. Many people from Hokkaido to Okinawa have been instructed by Hakkoryu in various ways, and it has spread all over the world, including France, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Hawaii, and the U.S. mainland. In addition, the has used it as an arrest technique.
At present, the soke of Ryuho Okuyama (Toshio), who assumed the name Ryuho, is teaching techniques and training instructors, including instruction in koho medicine, at Hakko Juku, the headquarters of Hakko Ryu Jujutsu, in Omiya, Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture. In addition, he has taught the techniques at the Yokota U.S. military base, where they have been used by the FBI as an arrest technique.
